Senator Frank Madla Jr State Natural Area was established in 2009 using dedicated funds from the State of Texas with matching funds from the City of San Antonio Edwards Aquifer Protection Plan program. The 42-acre Park is owned and operated by the City of Grey Forest. A committee commissioned by Grey Forest manages the upkeep of the Park. The Senator Frank Madla Jr State Natural Area Conservancy was established to raise funds for Park maintenance and special projects. Periodically, the Committee and the Conservancy sponsor events to raise these funds.

The Conservancy has initiated a sustaining program to augment Park fundraising. This program is called “Friends of Madla Park”. The program consists of individuals who commit to making an annual monetary gift to provide for the annual upkeep of this valued treasure. Annual cost for upkeep of the Park averages $6,000. The cost is modest given that most labor is volunteered. The Conservancy hopes to enlist a sufficient number of patrons to allow funds raised by sponsored events to cover special needs of the Park, such as capital construction or significant upgrades.

Any level of support is welcome. It is important that whatever gift is offered is provided annually to sustain annual upkeep. Please consider becoming a member of “Friends of the Madla Park”. Following are categories for the Friends. Gifts may be anonymous.
